Cartographic Memory

about

I've been working on this song on and off for about four years. It's the closest I'll likely ever get to creating something close to a self portrait. It means a lot to me. Hopefully, you'll find some meaning in it, too. Either way, thanks for making it this far :)

lyrics

Heading south, I think
Leaving marks upon the ground
We’ll never see
Never see again

Carving out time
Drawing outlines
Folding both sides into a square

Doing it right
Seeing the sights
Leaving behind a “We were here”

It’s so hard to
Make your way through this
Without losing
Something dear to you

Heading south, I think
Leaving marks upon the ground
We’ll never see
Never see again

I think I found a note
Of old coordinates
No map and no context
Just numbers in a list

I think I found a line
A path that weaves us through
This one is labeled “home”
To remind you where we’ve been

I don’t remember what we said
But I won’t forget where we were

I'm an ex-game designer and ex-indie rock kid, so my music combines both of those influences to make vocals-heavy indie rock by way of synthy, beat-driven sounds.
